While not an instructor, Michael is key Armature personnel. Co-founder with Stephanie, he has always been the behind-the-scenes guy and is crucial in keeping Armature running. He does all the jobs that Stephanie won’t touch – payroll, maintenance, building operations, council liason officer, neighbourhood watch and overall guardian angel. He thinks macro while Stephanie thinks micro.
Michael is a trained sculptor and has won several prestigious awards including the Deakin Small Sculpture Award and the UWS aquisition prize. When he’s not at Armature, he’s in his Coburg studio, shaping things in bronze, resins, marbles and stones, dreaming up new objects to bring to life. Extremely versatile, he can work with pretty much any material and is an experienced welder. All skills that have come in very handy over the years at Armature.
Little known fact about Michael:
His nieces and nephews used to call him Uncle Dirty Boots because he always had plaster and paint on his shoes from working in his sculpture studio.
